A Rough Season
The Eagles have been one of the biggest disappointments of the season so far. Going into the seasons, analysts expected a great year from Carson Wentz. Wentz leads the NFL in interceptions and fumbles, respectively with 15 and 10. The Eagles traded up in the 2016 NFL draft to get Wentz, sending a 1st, 3rd, and 4th round pick to get the 4th overall pick from the Browns. In his rookie season, Wentz led the league in completions and had 3782 passing yards. In 2017 he only got better, in 13 games he had 33 touchdowns with 7 interceptions. But the start of the downfall happened in week 14 when he tore his ACL. 2020 has been his worst season so far, leading the league in sacks. In his pre-game interview this week, head coach Doug Pederson took ownership of the Eagle’s struggles, especially for their 28th ranked offense, and allowing 4 sacks a game, leading the league. He has now given play call responsibilities to Press Taylor and Mike Garafolo. Sources tell Ian Rapoport of NFL that, “Pederson finds himself on the hot seat with his future in doubt.”A group of Eagles captains met with Pederson to address the struggles, and to take accountability. The Eagles have a 3-7-1 record and sit 3rd in the NFC East. Although with the struggles, the Eagles still have a chance to win the NFC East, if they turn it around quick enough. They are one game out of the NFC East, with the Washington football team and the Giants tied with 4 wins. The Eagles face off with the Aaron Rodgers led 8-3 Packers.
