ALL ABOARD THE PRIZEPICKS TRAIN
If you have been following our MMA plays for the last few events, you most likely noticed that we didn’t fare too well. If you have been following those plays on Facebook, you would have also been able to follow along with our PrizePick plays.
PrizePicks is a different animal than normal daily fantasy. Instead of playing against other people and their roster, you are simply playing against the player’s fantasy projection. This makes for a great platform for people that know the sport well, but don’t as great with contest selection, or using ownership numbers to maximize their lineups.
HOW TO PLAY
The first thing you will need to do to make sure that you can play is to make sure that you are in a supported state. You can find a list of the supported states HERE. If your state is supported you can make an account for free, and even play your first contest with promotional money to test the water.
You will start by picking your sport at the top. There is an MMA event tomorrow night, so let’s use MMA as the example. Once you click MMA you will be taken to a player board. On this board there will be a list of fighters and their fantasy projection. You want to look for fighters that you feel confident will either score above or below their projection. One thing to be aware of is that the projections change in real time, so if you see something you like, get it while it’s available. You can always bet an additional play later if you so choose. You will need to pick between two and four fighters on each play. Three has been the number we have found to be optimal to have success with.
POWER PLAY vs. FLEX PLAY
Once you have selected your fighters, you will then need to decide if you believe their score to be over or under their fantasy projections. You will click the corresponding icon next to each fighter.
At the bottom of that screen PrizePicks will then ask you how you wish to play your lineup. You can select either Flex Play or Power Play. We are going to jump into a brief explanation of each.
POWER PLAY
The Power Play choice is for the player that wants to live a little. This type of play requires you to get all of your picks correct and pays out a substantially higher amount than your bet should you complete the Power Play.
If you selected four fighters and picked all four correctly on a Power Play you would win ten times your wager. Miss just one pick though, and you win nothing, losing your original wager.
FLEX PLAY
Flex Play cards are the safer choice, but you will not win as much money on a successful play. The play that we have found to be the optimal play for winning some money each time you play, the cash game of PrizePicks so to speak, is a three choice Flex Play.
With Flex Play you are actually allowed to miss one of your three selections and STILL WIN MONEY. The amount you can win varies depending on how many selections you made. If you only make two selections on your play, you don’t actually win money, but you will only lose half of your original bet.
If you make three selections on your play, and you miss one, you will actually win money on your wager however. This makes a three selection Flex Play the best play on PrizePicks in our opinion.
OUR PRIZEPICKS PLAYS
We have not missed a single three selection Flex Play on PrizePicks since we started looking into the platform, and have hit all three selections on a few of them as well, which pays out more money. Our only miss in fact to this point, with about 6 events played, has been a four fighter Power Play where all four of our picks won, but two selections did not score as expected. We still won the Flex Play that event however.
